Commute Options

Between 3 train stations, 8 private shuttles, 11 miles of bike lanes, and plenty more multi-use trails, you’ve got a plethora of commute options in Perimeter. Whether you’re hoping to save time traveling, reduce commute costs, or just try a new route, we’ve got the run-down on all the ways you can get to work.

Bus

Perimeter is served by four MARTA bus routes and one Xpress Coach route from Cumming. If you need a ride into the Perimeter area, want to save money on your commute, or just want more free time not spent driving, this is a great commute option.

Train

Perimeter is home to three MARTA Red Line train stops: Medical Center, Dunwoody, and Sandy Springs Stations. The Red Line provides an easy, low-cost commute in from most any direction. If you live further from the MARTA line, consider parking for free at an outlying station like North Springs, Indian Creek, or Hamilton E. Holmes, and riding the train into the district to avoid the worst traffic.

Cycling

Fun fact: Perimeter has nearly 11 miles of bike lanes, making it even easier for you to get around Perimeter on two wheels. All MARTA buses are also equipped with two bike racks in the front. Learn how to load your bike onto a bus here.

MARTA stations offer bike storage free of charge – just bring a lock and find an open spot. The Sandy Springs Station also offers a bike fix-it station.

Walking

Perimeter’s network of trails and sidewalks make it easy to get around the district on foot. Trails like the Ashford Dunwoody Mixed-Use Path and PATH400 connect the district’s restaurants and shopping to local worksites, allowing you to wander on a mid-day walk or switch to a daily commute on foot.

Shuttles

Perimeter’s private shuttle network is one of the district’s best-kept secrets, serving tenants and employees of buildings throughout the district. Eight Perimeter worksites run free shuttle routes between MARTA stations and their campus from Monday – Friday. These shuttles can be a great solution to the last mile of your commute from a MARTA station.

Carpool

If you’ve ever gazed longingly at the HOV lane, you probably know sharing a ride can be a great way to save money and reduce commute stress. If you don’t know anyone, find other riders or drivers going your way in the Perimeter Connects MyGCO network, in the Pools tab. No matter who you share the ride with, be sure to log carpool trips in MyGCO for up to $20 a month in rewards.

Rapid Ride

Need to get Perimeter 2 –5 times a week? Don’t want to take your car into the city every day? Perimeter Connects’ Rapid Ride vanpool program includes gas, insurance, Express Lane access, and a recent-model hatchback or SUV for your pool to drive. Form a vanpool with 5–8 coworkers or friends through Rapid Ride, a specialized program that offers a simple $75 monthly flat rate per rider.

Vanpool is often a good fit if you want to reduce your commute costs, have a consistent work schedule, commute longer distances/put a lot of miles on your car each week, and are open to sharing the drive to work, even a few days a week.

Telework

There’s no commute so easy as the one from bedroom to office. If you have the ability to work from home, a few teleworking days can do a lot to reduce overall traffic and stress. They can also earn you monthly rewards. Log your telework days in MyGCO to start earning.
